Although we do not have control over life’s events, we can control our reaction to the situation. Many would say that is easier said than done. In order to maintain a positive outlook on ife, we need need to replenish and rejuvinate the creativity and inspiration in our lives.

How do you rejuvenate yourself each day? This may look different for each person. Have fun and be creative with your time:

  • Coffee break with friends
  • Gentle stretching at your desk
  • iPOD break before your daily meetings
  • Exercise routine in the morning
  • Knitting at the end of a long day

This is your oasis in the midst of your day.

Prepare for Your Tranquility

Planning will go a long way to build your daily oasis.

  • Do you enjoy music as a way to relax? Download 5 new songs on your iPOD that help you relax.
  • Do you want to weave gentle stretching exercises at your desk? No problem - type "exercises at desk" in google.com.
  • Do you enjoy cooking as a way to decompress? Find 2 new recipes online that you would like to try.
  • Are you interested in rejuvenating that exercise regime in your schedule? Find a partner and ask him/her if they are interested in being your exercise partner.
  • Do you enjoy writing? Buy yourself a nice journal to start your own "Gratitude Journal"

Renew your commitment to your daily oasis! Pick any of these ideas (or better yet, invent a new one for yourself) and you will soon be on your way to replenishing your energy in a fun and creative way.

Scheduling your Tranquility

Pencil your tranquility time on your calendar. You need time that is not just "filer time" like while you are waiting at the doctor's office. This time is prioritized and supported without any distractions (no email, no phone calls, and no interruptions). If you have a door at your office, make sure that it is closed and that people know that you cannot be disturbed.

The length of your tranquility time might range from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. For instance, starting a daily meditative routine for a novice may require less time than cooking a meal. Dedicating this time for yourself may require an adjustment. Enjoy yourself and enjoy the rejuvenation!
